L&rsquo;\u00e9difice du Centre est enti\u00e8rement renov\u00e9, avec tous les \u00e9l\u00e9ments patrimoniaux et artistiques soigneusement retir\u00e9s pour restauration, tandis que le c\u0153ur du b\u00e2timent subit une modernisation compl\u00e8te. \u00c9galement pr\u00e9vue, la construction du vaste Centre d&rsquo;accueil du Parlement, situ\u00e9 \u00e0 20 m\u00e8tres sous le niveau du sol, reliera l&rsquo;\u00e9difice du Centre aux \u00e9difices de l&rsquo;Est et de l&rsquo;Ouest pour am\u00e9liorer la circulation dans l&rsquo;ensemble du complexe parlementaire.<\/p>\n<p>Services publics et Approvisionnement Canada (SPAC) utilise des approches et technologies innovantes pour r\u00e9aliser le projet. Lorsque l&rsquo;\u00e9difice du Centre rouvrira, il sera pr\u00eat \u00e0 r\u00e9pondre aux besoins d&rsquo;un Parlement du XXIe si\u00e8cle pour de nombreuses ann\u00e9es \u00e0 venir. L&rsquo;\u00e9difice du Centre ne disposait d&rsquo;aucune protection contre les tremblements de terre, mais \u00e0 l&rsquo;avenir, plus de 500 isolateurs sismiques dans la fondation isoleront le b\u00e2timent du sol afin d&rsquo;att\u00e9nuer tout futur \u00e9v\u00e9nement sismique. Ce vaste projet devrait se poursuivre jusqu&rsquo;en 2031, co\u00fbter entre 4,5 et 5 milliards de dollars, et il respecte l&rsquo;\u00e9ch\u00e9ancier pr\u00e9vu.<\/p>\n<p>Pour r\u00e9aliser ces 500 isolateurs sismiques, plus de 1 200 pieux de 324 mm de diam\u00e8tre sur 30 m de profondeur avec embo\u00eetement dans le roc auront \u00e9t\u00e9 for\u00e9s sous le b\u00e2timent, dans un sol principalement compos\u00e9 de roche solide. Chacun des pieux de 30 m est compos\u00e9 de 30 sections de 1 m de long, filet\u00e9es m\u00e2le x femelle. Le tuyau de 324 mm x 12,7 mm d&rsquo;\u00e9paisseur \u00e9tant suffisamment \u00e9pais, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 possible d&rsquo;usiner les filets directement dans le tuyau. C&rsquo;est le filet propos\u00e9 par notre d\u00e9partement d&rsquo;ing\u00e9nierie qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 retenu pour l&rsquo;ensemble du projet. Ce filet \u00e0 pas \u00e0 gauche pr\u00e9sente un profil arrondi \u00e0 trois entr\u00e9es, ce qui le rend rapide et facile \u00e0 visser, m\u00eame dans des conditions difficiles et salissantes sur plusieurs d\u00e9fis majeurs. Le premier \u00e9tant qu&rsquo;il fallait forer dans le sous-sol de l&rsquo;\u00e9difice, offrant une garde au sol de seulement 3 m. Il a donc fallu trouver des foreuses assez compactes mais \u00e9galement assez puissantes pour forer des tuyaux de 324 mm dans un tel environnement. Il a aussi fallu trouver un syst\u00e8me d&rsquo;avancement de tubage permettant de r\u00e9duire le couple de rotation requis. Le choix de notre syst\u00e8me Xs GTE3 s&rsquo;est av\u00e9r\u00e9 l&rsquo;outil parfait pour ce type de travail, car il permet de forer de grands diam\u00e8tres, m\u00eame avec ces petites foreuses, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 son principe de forage pleine face plut\u00f4t qu&rsquo;un syst\u00e8me \u00e0 ailettes.
